Phantom Dark

Your information

Privacy policy

Effective September 15, 2026 · Last updated October 5, 2026

This policy explains how Nitrogen Labs, Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use phantomdark.com, the Phantom Dark mobile app, and our connected community, membership, and shop features.

1. Information we handle

  • Membership and sign-in. When you connect Patreon, we receive information such as your Patreon identifier, name, email address, membership status, and eligible tiers. We handle authorization tokens and a Phantom Dark session to keep you signed in and provide the content your membership allows. We do not receive your Patreon password.
  • Community contributions. We process the reports, descriptions, area labels, dates, photos, and other information you submit, together with your account identifier and displayed alias. Community contributions are shared with other users who can access those features. Your alias may be based on the part of your email address before the @ sign; consider whether that identifies you before posting.
  • Optional location. With your permission, location features can use your device’s location to find nearby reports or attach an approximate location to a report. The app rounds coordinates to two decimal places before sending them through these features. An attached location is visible alongside the report and can still identify a small area. You can use an area label instead. These features do not require background location tracking.
  • Selected photos. The mobile app lets you choose photos to upload. It requests images without EXIF metadata and resizes/re-encodes them before upload. The image itself can still reveal people, addresses, or other personal details. Only share content you are comfortable showing to others.
  • Shopping. We process catalog requests, selected products, quantities, and a cart identifier. Checkout runs through Shopify, where you provide contact, shipping, billing, and payment information. Nitrogen Labs and its store service providers receive the order information needed to fulfill purchases and handle customer service; payment details are handled through the checkout and payment providers.
  • Email and support. If you subscribe to transmissions or contact us, we handle the name, email address, message, and other information you provide.
  • Echo website assistant. If you choose to ask Echo a question, your question and up to six recent conversation turns are sent through Reaktor to AWS Bedrock to generate an answer using public sources. This is optional and does not require signing in. Echo does not receive your Patreon credentials, reviewer access codes, membership profile, cart identifier, or checkout information from the website. Do not include passwords, payment details, or other private information in your questions.
  • Usage and technical information. Our website sends page paths and interaction events to Reaktor to understand how features are used. Events can include a temporary journey identifier. Hosting, content delivery, and connected services also receive technical request information, such as IP addresses, browser/device information, and timestamps, and may keep operational or security logs.
  • On-device data. The app and website use browser storage, app storage, and caches for sessions, carts, preferences, and downloaded content. Product listings and images are downloaded and cached during app use. The app normally reuses the catalog for 24 hours and caches product images to reduce repeat downloads. Device motion used for visual effects is processed on the device.

2. How we use information

We use information to operate Phantom Dark, authenticate users, check membership access, display and moderate community content, provide location features you choose, process purchases, send requested updates, respond to support requests, remember preferences, improve reliability and design, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.

Echo uses the question and limited conversation context you provide to answer questions about published Phantom Dark material and Nitrogen Studios. Its responses are generated by AI and may be incomplete or incorrect. Source links let you check the underlying information. Echo cannot access or change your account, order, membership, or cart, and it does not send support messages.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on providing the services you request, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting them, consent for optional activities where required, and compliance with legal obligations. You can withdraw consent for optional permissions or communications without affecting processing already carried out.

3. When information is shared

Information is shared as needed with service providers and connected services that support these purposes. Community text and photos are sent to AWS Comprehend and Rekognition for automated safety checks before publication. This is not facial identification. Checks may reject unsafe or unsupported content; contact support@nitrogenx.co if you believe a decision is incorrect. These include AWS for infrastructure and delivery, Reaktor for content/community services, website analytics and subscription handling, Patreon for membership authentication, and Shopify and relevant payment/fulfillment providers for shopping.

For Echo, Reaktor processes assistant requests and AWS Bedrock generates responses. Phantom Dark does not add the text of your Echo questions or answers to its website interaction analytics. Request metadata may still be processed for delivery, security, and service operation.

Community posts and their associated alias, photos, and attached location are visible to other users with access to the community. Copies made by other people may remain outside our control. Avoid posting private details about yourself or anyone else.

We may disclose information to comply with applicable law or a valid legal request, protect rights and safety, investigate abuse, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or transfer of the business, subject to applicable protections.

When you open external sites, embedded media, podcasts, social platforms, or checkout, those services can receive information directly, use cookies or similar technologies, and apply their own policies. See Patreon’s privacy policies and Shopify’s privacy policy.

4. Storage, retention, and security

We retain information for as long as needed for the purposes described here, including providing the service, maintaining community records, resolving disputes, preventing abuse, and meeting legal or accounting requirements. Retention depends on the information and why we hold it. Community content may remain until removed; order records may need to be retained after a purchase or deletion request.

Phantom Dark membership sessions generally expire after 30 days unless renewed. Disconnecting Patreon ends the associated Phantom Dark session; it does not automatically remove community posts, cancel your Patreon subscription, or delete your Patreon account. You can delete your Phantom Dark account in Settings → Account and safety.

Cached content and preferences may remain on your device until replaced, cleared, or removed with the app. A 24-hour catalog refresh is not a promise that all cached images or server records are deleted after 24 hours.

Echo keeps its displayed conversation in temporary page memory rather than saving it as a chat history in browser storage. Reloading or leaving the page clears that in-page conversation. The assistant service uses a hashed visitor address and aggregate request counts to enforce rate limits; these records do not contain the text of your questions. Hosting and model-provider processing remains subject to the operational and security purposes described above.

We use technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the service, but no storage or transmission method is completely secure. Our operations and providers may process information in the United States and other countries, whose privacy laws may differ from yours. Where required, applicable safeguards govern international transfers.

Delete your Phantom Dark account and data

In Phantom Dark, open Settings → Account and safety → Delete account. Type DELETE and confirm “Permanently delete account.” The app removes your Phantom Dark membership profile, stored Patreon authorization credentials, all app sessions, community posts and attached photos/location, comments, reactions, reports, and account blocks. You are signed out on all devices. A failed deletion shows an error and can be retried; it does not claim completion.

A hashed account-deletion security receipt is retained for up to 60 days to stop older sessions and in-flight requests from restoring deleted data. It contains no email, display name, content, or provider credentials. Encrypted disaster-recovery backups expire according to their retention cycle (up to 35 days); deleted data is not used to provide the service.

You can alternatively email privacy@nitrogenx.co for help or deletion without reinstalling. Identify your Patreon email or community alias; we may verify ownership. Do not send passwords, payment details, or authorization tokens.

This does not delete your separate Patreon account or cancel your subscription. Manage those directly with Patreon. Merchandise order records may be retained for legal or accounting purposes.

5. Your choices and privacy requests

  • Permissions: change location and photo access in your device or browser settings. Denying a permission can limit the corresponding optional feature.
  • Subscriptions: use the unsubscribe option in marketing emails or contact us. Service-related communications may still be necessary.
  • Membership: disconnect Patreon in Phantom Dark and manage authorization, billing, or account deletion directly through Patreon.
  • Local storage: clear browser site data or app data using your device’s available controls. This can sign you out and remove preferences; it does not delete server-held information.
  • Website analytics: our current event collection respects supported Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track browser signals. External services have their own settings and practices.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, restrict or object to certain processing, withdraw consent, and complain to a privacy regulator. Contact us using the details below to exercise applicable rights. We may need to verify your identity before acting, and legal exceptions may apply. You may also contact us to ask us to review our response to a request.

For a deletion request, tell us you use Phantom Dark and identify the account or content involved. Do not send passwords, payment card details, or Patreon authorization tokens.

6. Children

Phantom Dark is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deletion.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our features, providers, or legal requirements change. The updated version will appear here with a revised date. We will provide additional notice or seek consent where required.
